Sofia Arteaga

Sofia comes from a musical French/Uruguayan family and has lived and performed music all over the world. She is the lead singer in Dublin-based Latin band ‘Origenes’ and plays with her father Emilio in the duo ‘O’Mambo’. She has been facilitating music workshops in musical expression with children from 3-12 years of age in Dublin for several years.  See http://www.omambo.info/sofia.html

Rachel Dempsey

Rachel is an experienced development educator and holds a masters degree in Ethnomusicology. She coordinated Comhlamh’s primary school project Compass in 2004 and also worked as Education Officer with the Latin America Solidarity Centre for four years. In collboation with Comhlamh and the DICE project (Integrating Development and Intercultural Education in Initial Primary Teacher Education) Rachel regularly trains primary teachers and teacher educators in the use of music in intercultural education.  Rachel runs popular Global Harmonies singing workshops around Dublin and is the lead singer in ‘Candela’, a Latin dance music band. www.dublin.ie/websites/globalharmonies
