RANGERS

 

The Ranger section is for girls between the ages of 14-19.  Many of the Rangers go on to train to become leaders within their unit.

 

They follow the newly launched ‘CHOICES’ Programme and their version is call ‘GET WITH IT.

This incorporates modules in Creativity, Health, Outdoor Activity, International development, Communication, and Environment. Rangers are encouraged to take part in projects which will be of benefit to the world around them.

Awards and Badges
As part of their CHOICES programme, Rangers complete the ‘Oisín Award’. This award has a Gold, Silver and Bronze level. At each level, in order to complete the award Rangers take part in activities in the following areas:

  • Outdoor Activity
  • The Community
  • Good / Community Relations
  • Natural Environment
  • Special Skills
  •   


      

    What they get up to:

    v     Projects

    v     Day trips

    v     Attend Area / Diocesan / National events

    v     Camping

    v     Hiking

    v     Outdoor sports: Canoeing, Surfing, Hill walking, Rock climbing, Absailing etc.

    v     President’s Award

     

    The Rangers are more involved in decided what they do and they actually plan and organise a lot of their activities.  Their challenges are more project based and they work on many different things during the year.  They also sometimes help with the running of the Guide Company and do Community Service projects.  Many of them also take on the President’s Award.
