PL WEEKEND
20-22 OCTOBER
KILCULLY - CORK
It was wet, it was cold but it was great fun. Our reps were Julie, Joanna, Claire and Laura. The idea of the weekend was to meet with other PLs & APLs from around the country, to swap and share ideas, games, crafts etc. and above all to learn how to be a good PL (good as in productive not well behaved, because you’re all little angels, NOT J). We arrived quite late on the Friday so all that was left to do was have some supper and go to bed. Saturday was very busy, with team games, puzzles, archery and a wet but thrilling aerial runway. After lunch was the official training session, which was very informative on a personal and practical basis. Ideas were exchanged about what makes a good PL and how to run a patrol. The food was great all weekend and after dinner we headed into
It was a great weekend.
Thanks to all the organisers and the caterers.
SUMMER CAMP 2006
MT. MELLERAY - CO. WATERFORD
In August we went to Mount Melleray Scout Centre in Waterford with Buion Francis Taylor Guides from Malahide. There were 37 Guides and 6 Leaders on the trip.
We started our journey by train and got a coach for the last leg of the trip. When the rooms were sorted out we had a few ice breaker games so people could get to know each other. After Dinner we had an enrollment and then we went on a night hike to the Grotto.
On Friday morning we made parachutes to launch our egg volunteers, unfortunately only 1 survived the challenge, poor Humpty :-(. After lunch we got into our oldest clothes. We started with base challenges, then each group was given bags of flour for 'Flour Wars'. Sounds harmless enough - until the leaders appeared will fully loaded super soakers. Then each group was also given bags of water balloons - get the picture - CHARGE ....! When we finally managed to get all the dough off we had dinner followed by crafts which kept us going for the rest of the night.
Saturday we were back on the road again, off to Tramore for the day. We arrive to torrential rain - not a good start. Thankfully it cleared fairly quickly so we could enjoy a couple of hours in the amusement park. We spent the afternoon going surfing on the beach - cool dude. We got back about 7 had dinner and then performed our entertainment. That night we were invited to a campfire with the Scouts who were camping in the grounds. A good finish to a great day.
Sunday morning we started with the usual clean up job, then prize giving and it was all over - until next year.
