Monday 14th December
Last competition for 2009 and we played for turkeys on the Sunday morning.
The morning was bright dry and reasonably mild for the game with no wind, excellent conditions for P&P.
Sadie O’Connor won the last turkey with a fantastic net 47 just one shot ahead of runner up Pat Hickey with a net 48.
Some Members who played on Sunday L-R Tommy McCann, Fr Fagan Stephen Rowe Front L-R Orla Gannon, Maureen Teeling, and Maura Lynch.
The club will be taking a break over the Xmas and Jan 09 and we look forward the spring 2010. Merry Christmas to all our members family and neighbours and a peaceful new year.
The village Christmas tree was lit up on Sat Night after mass by Mr Liam Grogan present at the switching on were L-R Liam Grogan, Sally McGill, Olive O’Connor, Jack Fitzsimons, Patricia Maxwell, Ann Green, Bernie Farrell, Marie Delaney, Fr Denis Delaney PP, and Mick Connell. 

Reminder that the 2009 Carol service will take place in the Church Ballyboughal on Wed next 16th December starting at 7.30pm everyone is welcome.



Monday 23rd November
Shattering weather all across the country has seen many sporting events cancelled postponed due to the worst flooding in Irish history.

The course has to be closed over the weekend and will remain closed until the ground dries up a little and the grass can be tendered.

Sunday mornings are still the plan for adult games weather permitting and we will play for a turkey if we have the numbers.

Meanwhile commiserations to the Ballyboughal footballers who were beaten by four points in tough game in the Leinster semi final yesterday against Louth at Balgriffin.
Well done lads you gave the whole village a great year of entertaining football and lit the hearts of may an old villager with your Championship and league double, looking forward to 2010.


Monday 16th November
With the bad wet weather ravaging the country at the moment the P&P course is in a pretty wet condition at the moment.

Adult games are continuing on Sunday mornings at 11am and this weekend we had enough players to organise a game for a Xmas turkey.

Tommy Mc Cann was the first winner of a turkey for 2009.

Play will continue weekly until the weekend of the 13th December and depending on numbers we will play for a turkey each Sunday morning.

Family turkey competition will be held on the weekend of the 13th December the competition will be played as teams of two (doubles) scramble.
Family members to play together as a team suggestions would be Husband/wife, father son/daughter, Mother son/daughter aunt/uncle where an adult must be part of the team.

The competition will be open to non members who play with a member as part of a team.


Monday 2nd November
Last week end the 26th October and the clock went back one hour for official winter time.
This means we wont be able to continue with the Friday evening games until spring.

Halloween Sunday and the course is closed due to the overnight heavy rain the worst in many years which left it partially waterlogged.

Adult games will continue on Sunday afternoons2.30pm weather permitting up to Xmas

Monday 19th October
Ladies weekend at the club and some fantastic P&P was played among the contestants.
We were very lucky to get such a beautiful dry sunny day.






Winner of the ladies cup for 2009 was Maureen Teeling pictured L with sponsor Bill O'Neill and runner up Best gross was
Marie Delaney pictured with Bill and Maureen.
The winner had a fantastic eight under par Net scores of 46, the runner up best gross was 60.
There were six players under par for the day and considering the windy conditions it was a fantastic achievement in a competition.

Monday 12th October
Jones Cup weekend at the club and a great weekend of P&P was played by all the participants in this years competition.

The ladies were in great form with Joan Homan the NET leader after the 18 holes on Saturday with a 46 closely followed by Ann McDonnell on 47.

Best Gross after the first day of play was Mark Sweeney with 50.

Sunday’s play continued in good sunshine and strong winds producing some challenging results.
This years winner managed to hang on to her lead from Saturday with a total 94 Net, managing to win by 2 strokes.


Runner up and Top Gross went to Mark Sweeney with a 99 for 36 holes, Mark also won nearest the pin on the 3rd.

Monday 5th October


Ballyboughal Rangers champions of Dublin.
The old home town will never look the same, because it has now changed for the better and a better future.

Our local GAA club won the Dublin Junior A Football Championship at the weekend have winning over Man-O-War in a thrilling game in Parnell Park on Sunday 4th October.

Well done to Mick Wogans team of players and mentors as it has been 42 years since the village first won this prestigious cup.

Plenty of celebrations over the weekend with the village transformed into a sea of green and white for our boys in green.
Reminder that the Jones Cup adult comp takes place over 36 holes this year.

Next Sat 10th and Sun 11th Oct at 2.30pm each day.

The final major for the year will be the ladies cup on Sunday 18th Oct at 2.30pm all ladies are invited to play the day is organised as a parish fundraising event.
