Two sides to every Story
I was contacted by a family whose cat had taken to sitting on top of their c.d. machine while looking out the window. When she sat on it, her weight caused it to malfunction. They did not want the c.d. player to get broken and they could not move the machine nor find any way of dissuading the cat from perching on it.
When I communicated with the cat she told me the reason why she liked sitting on the c.d. machine so much was the lovely heat it produced which kept her nice and warm while looking out the window, I did not think I could change her mind or her warming habit! A solution to this 'battle of wills' came to my mind and I asked her if another heat source was provided by the window would she use it instead of the much put upon c.d. machine. She agreed.
I told her family her reason for her actions and my solution - a heat pad! They got one immediately and since that day family, cat and machine all live in peace together!
No animal can be 'told' what to do, they have their reasons and are reasonable too!
One day I got a telephone call from a lady who was very worried about her little yorkie dog. He almost refused to go out for their daily walk in the park, something he had always danced about in anticipation for but now she found he barely plodded out the door. Her vet could find no physical reason for his lethargy and so she rang me to see if I could find out what was wrong from the source himself.
While communicating with the yorkie he told me that no there was nothing wrong with him but recently during their walks in the park his feet would get very sore from all the little stones and if he could just walk on the grass and not on any of the stones he would love to go walking again. I related this to his family and the lady was a bit puzzled at these 'little stones' he mentioned until she remembered that the local council had recently tarmacadamed the footpath in their local park.
I spoke to her again a few days later to see how they were getting on and was told that things are back to normal, except now she only walks at the very edge of the footpath and the yorkie, on an extension lead, strides through the grass.
