Teen Acting Classes

TEEN ACTING (8-11 week courses)
The Teen Acting course is divided into three terms and covers some of the basics of voice and body work, relaxation, creating character and improvisation, all done in a supportive and fun environment. The AUTUMN and SPRING terms include a public presentation in the last day of class, and the WINTER term is for process only, and does not have a presentation. Students may take one term or all three. It's suited to the beginning actor for building confidence and increasing creative abilities, OR for more experienced teens interested in practicing and developing their acting technique. We will delve into the acting process during the course, and in the production terms we create a performance particularly suited to the participants. This is a highly creative process calling on the imaginative participation of all in the group. All students taking the autumn or spring terms must be available and commited to the presentation day at the end of the course. Note that the Saturday prior to the production and the production day/evening will have extended class times.
Class size is limited to 12 students maximum in order to assure the highest level of attention for all participants. There is usually a wait list for this course, so reserve early! Discount of €20 for additional sibling.
Course H: Teen Studio Process-Winter Term 2012 (8 weeks)
Dates: Saturdays, 3:00-4:30pm, January 21st-March 10th, 2012 (This is a studio process term, no public performance.)
Location: Classes held at the Abbey School of Music & Drama, 9b Abbey St Lower, 2nd floor acting studio.
Fee: €110, minimum deposit of €50 required within 3 days of reservation. Remaining balance in full due Janaury 14th, one week prior to start of course. Sibling discount of €20 is available for this course.

Teen Drama Prodution Week - June 2012: (Dates to be determined.)
Description: This is week long intensive course touches on the basics of voice and body work, ensemble work, improvisation, and the interaction between body and imagination. However, the bulk of this week is spent preparing for an acting presentation of an original devise production to be performed on SATURDAY evening 8pm at the New Theatre in Temple Bar. This course is specifically for those with previous experience or with a courageous passion ready to dive in! All those attending this course must have the desire to perform in front of an audience, as the process of this class is focused on creating and performing an original piece. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THIS COURSE, ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE COMMITED TO BE RELIABLE TO THE GROUP AND MUST PROMPTLY ATTEND ALL CLASSES AND THE PERFORMANCE AS SCHEDULED BELOW. Teen "Drama for Fun" Week - Summer 2012: (dates to be determined)
Description: This course is a one-week romp in the acting process with no-performance pressure! In 5 half-day sessions we will explore the same fundamental aspects of the acting process as in the performance classes, including the voice and body work, improvisation, theatre games, ensemble work, and devising stories to be performed within the classroom. The students will keep a journal style book of images and words to document their experienced during the week and to take with them at the end as a keep-sake . This is a low pressure, playful, summer-time excursion into the imaginative world of creating stories and characters. Class size is limited to 12 students maximum in order to assure the highest level of attention for all participants. There is usually a wait list for this course, so reserve early! Discount of €20 for additional sibling.
