The Abbey School of Music & Drama

Public Speaking

 Public Speaking: (For Non-Actors)

You cannot separate the voice from the person!

Many people feel uncomfortable when speaking in public.

This course is designed to allow each individual to fully

explore their unique voice and to discover and develop confidence

in their own style of presentation.

Using techniques adapted from the theatre you will be provided

with the skills to present and speak in public with confidence, conviction and compelling interest, to be at ease, to be yourself, and

to form a link with your audience.

You will develop techniques to help you plan your speech

and to make an impact.

You will be shown ways to eliminate unnecessary tension and techniques to improve the quality, tone and flexibility of the voice.

COURSE CONTENT

·         Participants will be guided through the preparation and presentation of various types of talk, formal and informal.

·         They will be given the opportunity to improve their ability to engage with an audience with confidence and poise.

·         Guidance will be given on the use of notes and visual aids.
