The Drama School at the Abbey School of Music & Drama, is distinguished from the music school as Flying Turtle Productions located on the 2nd floor of the school building. Acting instruction is provided for all ages and levels, with this page containing information on the Adult Courses.
ADULT ACTING courses are offered for all levels of interest and experience beginning with "Adult Drama for Fun", "Improvisation", and "Public Speaking" and continuing on to courses for the actor that is seeking to perform such as "Adult Scene Study" and "Shakespeare Scene Study". Additional options for 2010 include: "Acting for the Camera", 6-Month "Actor Training" other "Adult Advanced" courses as well. All adult courses are on a part-time and evening basis. OVERVIEW: The acting school features an international team of specialised instructors all with extensive cross-over experience in teaching, acting, directing, writing and producing. (See www.dublin.ie/abbeyschool/drama-instructors.asp) Under the direction of Kathleen Warner Yeates, the instructors share a passion and commitment to the highest standard of work. In all acting classes we explore the interplay between imagination, body, voice, ensemble, ease, and focus. Individual participants are encouraged to expand to their own next level of performance in a process focused environment. Courses that culminate in a public performance have a high standard of acheivement, and tend to attract the student who is motivated and commited. We hope to expand over the next year to develop a core of actors in a production company.
Most adult class sizes are limited to 12 students maximum, in order to provide the highest quality of tuition for each participant, and many courses fill up far in advance of the start date so be sure to reserve early and get deposits in!

Instructor Kathleen Warner Yeates is the head of the "Acting/Drama" portion of the Abbey School of Music & Drama. She was trained in the Masters program at Villanova University for Acting and Directing and has worked in the U.S. as a professional actor and director in theatre and film for over 25 years, working in New York City and throughouth the U.S. She and has been an acting instructor for over 20 years teaching acting at Penn State University, Villanova University, and other professional training programs. She has directed, acted, and written for off-broadway and has had the lead role acting in several independent films and commercials.
