LUAS
Luas (translated into english means speed) is a state of the art Light Rail transport system in Dublin that provides an attractive and unique alternative to the private car. The LUAS began operating in April 2004. Systems similar to Luas are popular worldwide and it appears to be the obvious choice for a dynamic capital city like Dublin, connecting suburbs to the city centre with a high capacity and high frequency transport service. The Luas provides passengers with a high-capacity service that is fast, frequent and reliable. There are convenient stop locations, excellent levels of comfort, safety and accessibility. Luas is an environmentally friendly system.

LUAS runs on two tramlines:
The
Green
Line: connecting Sandyford to St Stephens Green, approximately 22 minutes total journey time.
The
Red
Line: connecting Tallaght to Connolly, approximately 48 minutes total journey time.
LUAS Trams
Twenty-six 30-metre trams carrying up to 256 people serve the Red Line and fourteen 40- metre trams carrying up to 358 people operate on the Green Line, both with a maximum speed of 70 kph. There is a 5-minute interval between each tram at peak times and up to 15 minutes during off peak times. Trams run from 5.30 a.m. to 0.30am, Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 0.30am on Saturday and from 7am to 11.30pm (12.30am for Bank Holidays) on Sunday.
