Lord Mayor’s Introduction
The Northside Music Festival now in its 5th year celebrates music from across the globe in a fantastic three week programme. It brings both Irish and International talent to local communities. Developing new
audiences while strengthening existing audiences, the focus remains on distinctive settings such as city parks, community centres, churches and civic spaces.
This year with the kind support of The Arts Council, the festival features more family orientated events than ever before with three concerts specifically for children and a free workshop programme led by Wassa Wassa Drum Collective for youth groups across the city.
I would like to congratulate the Arts Office team who initiated the festival in 2007 along with everyone
associated with this year’s events. The festival would simply not be possible without the generous support of local community groups, organisations and the Dublin City Council staff on the ground.
The Northside Music Festival 2011 promises to engage and delight in equal measure whether you attend one performance or take the plunge and experience the full array of the festival. Come along and enjoy the free vibrant programme of music from all corners of the world including jazz, bluegrass, classical, trad, Latin American, African and contemporary Irish.
