Naoise Ó Muirí Now in its 6th year, the Northside Music Festival is a celebration of Irish, international and local talent.
Artists and musicians from across the globe come together to deliver the very best in music and
entertainment in Dublin’s many distinctive settings such as city parks, community centres, churches and
civic spaces. This fantastic series of free musical events manages to celebrate the sprit and enthusiasm of
Dublin’s northside while maintaining a global link in a local setting.
This year the festival kicks off in the city centre with ‘An Urban Fleadh’ in Wolfe Tone Square followed by
events in The Plaza Ballymun, St. Canice’s Church, Fr. Collins Park and The Red Stables and culminates in a
grand finale as part of The Tall Ships Races 2012 – Dublin. Northside Music Festival also includes a strong
programme of family orientated events including free music master-classes and workshops for families and
young people, all generously supported by the Arts Council.
I would like to thank our many partners this year including Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh, axis: Ballymun, The
Tall Ships Races 2012 – Dublin, St. Canice’s Church and the generous support of local community groups,
organisations and the Dublin City Council staff on the ground.
This vibrant programme promises to be an exciting and enjoyable experience. I would encourage everyone
to take time out to visit the entire programme of events. Come along and enjoy a programme of music
from all corners of the world including Traditional Irish, Congolese Rumba, Hip Hop, Indie, African and
contemporary Irish.
