National Recreation Week

National Recreation Week 2011 will be held between Friday 28th October and Thursday 3rd November. National Recreation Week is a collection of events organised for or by young people to show the range of activities available and the positive contribution made by young people in our country. It is the initiative of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

The aims of this event will be:

  • To raise the importance of recreation for young people
  • To highlight the variety of recreation facilities and opportunities for young people locally
  • To create a positive attitude towards young people

Dublin City Council will organise over 40 activities across Dublin City during Recreation Week. These activities will include Halloween activities such as discos and haunted treasure hunts, sports sessions including tag rugby and ultimate frisbee, music events including a showcase of hip hop dancing and the first meeting of the new Dublin City Comhairle na nÓg.
