The National Consumer Agency

The National Consumer Agency (NCA) is a statutory body established by the Irish Government in May 2007. It aims to defend consumer interests and to embed a robust consumer culture in Ireland.

The Government has given the NCA a very strong mandate to defend and promote consumer rights through:

Forceful advocacy, targeted research, consumer information, education, and awareness programmes
The systematic enforcement of consumer law

The European Consumer Centre

The European Consumer Centre Network offers consumers across Europe advice on their rights when shopping in another European state. The ECC Network also offers a dispute resolution service. If neccessary,ECC Ireland can liaise directly with a trader via its sister centre in the country of purchase.

Please note that ECC Ireland does not deal with queries from Irish consumers about Irish traders.

The Consumers' Association of Ireland

The Consumers' Association of Ireland Ltd. (CAI) was set up in 1966 to protect and educate consumers. It is the aim of CAI to represent consumers making sure that their needs as consumers of goods and services are given higher priority.
