Leisure Sports

Dublin is the national focal point for sport. Hosting two fantastic stadiums, Landsdowne Road and Croke Park, we have a lot to be proud of. The reconstruction of Croke Park and Landsdowne Road is by far the most impressive and ambitious development ever undertaken in relation to advancement of sport in our capital city. Traditionally, the people of Ireland share a sense of sportsmanship in everyday life and Dublin is no different. However, this fun-loving characteristic isn’t always reflected in peoples’ lifestyles. Participation in sport is a key factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is vital that people of all ages recognise and act upon this.
People have to get away from the idea that ‘sport is something that children do to pass the time’, people have to get off the couch and get involved in local sporting activities for the good of the individual and the community. For those of you who would like to make a change for a more active life many options are available to you. The change does not have to be dramatic, but something simple like cycling to work once a week instead of taking the car or enjoying a weekly swim.
