Smoking

Smoking causes serious illnesses such as lung cancer, stomach ulcers and high blood pressure. Every time you inhale a cigarette, dangerous chemicals are released into the body. Smoking kills over 7000 Irish people every year. The health risks of smoking are well-advertised, including government warnings on cigarette packs. Quitting smoking is the single most important thing a person can do to improve the health of the nation. It is estimated that smokers can lose up to 15yrs of their average lifespan. Quitting will add years to your life and the lives of others who’s health is also affected by passive smoking. You will lessen your chances of developing lung cancer or heart disease.
