Just imagine the € 51.000000 that was wasted on the voting machines would have kept me on welfare for 5000 years give or take a few years what a crazy bunch we have

I heard they are using them as lead weights and tieing them around their necks.

I never thought they were a good idea to begin with, besides the low turn out in voting in the young because of disenfranchisement the middleaged-elderley have a fair percentage that do not turn out cause they do not know how to read or understand the system of voting. There was a massive education system planned to go along with e-voting to deal with this (does all remember the issue around canidates picture size)

Many times I sat in the polling stations waiting on results to come through, my dad brought me when I was 16 and I loved the buzz so much I began to go myself, eventually you had to get involved to stay there so I usually asked the canidate I voted for could I co count his votes. Its a great craic and for the limited people involved every 4 years its a great system.

God more people being paid to get rid of a s*i*t* system. Will the supposedly 'betters' never learn? Scrap heap - you call a man and he puts them in the van for a few quid and dumps them - simple. Or you pull the plug and disconnect them. Another Bertie Folly - he learned off his Master and like the Master he left it to others to cleanse. Biffo is a clown - I have no time for him - he is not prime minister material but look at the tribunals and the gravy trains in the past?

Ireland grew up and I for one was delighted it was finally recognised world wide for what it is - a lovely place to live. It was but when governments have successively cut basic health care etc, well I am going to offend some people here and I mean no offense - Bob Geldof wrote a song - Banana Republic

It is not much better any where else but not as bad here but may get worse, I hope not - my son has lost his job as have thousands. Mary Harney and the Hair Do and the door that blew off the helicopter?

Back to the 145 bottles of gut I made from a stone of badars in the shed

Seriously the world followed Ronnie and Maggie - free markets

It struck me yesterday liatening to an interview with Noel Dempsey

    1. Is the reason they waited so long to scrap them because all the ministers involved have now moved on to different portfollieo's ie Martin Cullen/Bertie Ahern.

    2. If it was based on a european system why did they not just copy the system instead of stupidly trying to design there own. Economies of scale so to speak!
    3. Lastly Ireland is usually backward and last in its approch to Technology. That is to say we allow our neighbours to get there first. Why didnt we seek the advice and assistance of europe on the machines rather than barge head long with both feet ahead of them.
    4. Lastly our biggest probelm with these machines is that this technology was approves by the 3 main political parties with major research on simular european projects. Does this put the goverment in a position that arguements will be limited as parties cannot argue much on something they all agree on.

The sunday business post should make an interesting read this weekend!

I was wondering to myself - allegedly - were any 'palms' crossed in purchasing this folly but assured myself that this was not the case. It could never happen I told myself

    Hi Red Biddy !

I'd wonder about that, too . It certainly seems that in-house 'palms were crossed' in the actual storage of these useless machines.
    Thanks!
    Sharon.
