Dublin City Council hosted a snooker day on May 21st, in the Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8. This was a free, fun day for all. Three full size snooker tables and a half size table were put in the "Atrium" for the day. In attendance were Dublin's four professional snooker players, Ken Doherty, Fergal O'Brien, Michael Judge and Joe Delaney. These professional players were there to play frames against amateurs and novices, to coach, to play trick shots and generally have a good time.
At 2.00pm our special guest Michael Carruth played Ken Doherty in a one frame knockout.
At the end of the day the excess cues were signed and raffled off to the people who attended during the day.
The day was designed to promote sport and inclusion for everyone, no matter what their age, gender, nationality or ability. Sport is about taking part and not necessarily winning. Dublin is the European Capital of Sport for 2010.
